HANDBAGS AND HANDGUNS RAFFLE: The Lima Rehab and Nursing Center is having an AMAZING RAFFLE for MEN and WOMEN. The drawing is based on the Ohio Lottery’s EVENING Pick3 on the 2nd. and 4th. Thursday of the month BEGINNING in January 2017 through December 2017. The winner will be notified by phone and the proceeds benefit the ALZHEIMER’s ASSOCIATION. It’s only a $20.00 and only 1000 tickets will be sold. You must be legally able to purchase a handgun to win (21& older) and all of the paperwork will be handled by BHS Guns in Ohio City. Also a background check is required. The first drawing in January is January 12th. for a Michael Kors handbag and then on January 26th. it’s a Springfield XDM 9MM Handgun. In February on the 9th. a Dooney & Bourke Handbag will be given away and then on the 23rd. it’s another Springfield XDM 9MM Handgun. Betty’s Farm Partners with Local Businesses for Autism Awareness:April is Autism Awareness Month and Betty’s Farm is partnering with local businesses to promote autism awareness and acceptance.  Throughout April, the local community is invited to learn about autism and Betty’s Farm by visiting a business that is a part of the #BittersweetStrong campaign.  The #BittersweetStrong campaign will be spreading awareness and acceptance by showcasing different works of art created by individuals at Betty’s Farm.  Local businesses participating in this campaign include the Wingate by Wyndham, Beauty by Jill Day Spa, Kelly’s Boutique, The Meeting Place on Market Restaurant, and the Fresh and Faded Barber Shop.Julia Soules, Day Program Manager at Betty’s Farm, says, “We are beyond thrilled with the interest and support of the local community for Autism Awareness Month.  This is a great opportunity for the Lima community to learn about autism and better understand the mission of Betty’s Farm.”The #BittersweetStrong campaign is free and open to the public during each business’s working hours.   The businesses will be showcasing the following:

APRIL 19TH.: The Northwest Ohio Literacy Council is in need of volunteers to share their love of reading with another Lima area adult and NOLC will hold a 2 hour tutor training class from 1pm-3pm at 563 W. MAY 7TH.: The Middle Point Lions Club is sponsoring a Barbecue Chicken Dinner on Sunday, May 7, at Lincolnview School. Dinners will be available from 11:00 AM until 1:30 PM and are carryout only. Donation is $8.00 per dinner, which includes a barbecued chicken half, potato salad, green beans, applesauce, dinner roll and a cookie. Meals can be picked up at the Lincolnview Elementary entrance. Proceeds benefit the Middle Point Lions Scholarship Fund, providing scholarships for Lincolnview seniors.
