SEPTEMBER 23RD: The 11th. Annual Simon Kenton Chili Cook -Off Festival is a day packed with activities including live entertainment, contests and children’s activities including face painting, bouncy house and assorted games. In addition to the contestants vying for the first prize of $1000. for the best chili, there will be a Jalapeno eating contest , Suck, Chew and Blow contest, “Best salsa” recipe contest, and a corn hole tournament. In addition, vote for your favorite chili by purchasing beads for $1.00 and dropping them in their “pot” .. the winner will receive a “Peoples Choice Chili” trophy! If contests are not your “thing”, enjoy the Hoopla parade, sample the contestants chili, “sink” your favorite person at the dunk tank and rock to the sounds of “The Indoorfins” from 1:30- 6:00 pm.. Dine at the multiple food trucks and enjoy a variety of food choices – something for everyone! Registration for all contests opens at 10:00 am. SEPTEMBER 25TH.:  KENTON – Learn the difference between normal memory slips and dementia at a special free program, “Know the 10 Signs: Early Detection Matters,” to be offered Monday, September 25, 2017 from 2 pm to 3 pm at Hardin Crest Apartments, 900 East Columbus Street, Kenton, OH 43326. Offered by the Alzheimer’s Association, Northwest Ohio Chapter, the program will cover the basics, including the 10 warning signs of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, the difference between normal aging and dementia and tips for maintaining brain health.The benefits of early diagnosis will also be discussed, including seeking treatment and planning for the future. SEPTEMBER 30TH.: The Neediest families Prize-a-Palooza fund is holding a pub crawl from 2-6pm to benefit the Neediest families Fund. The Pub crawl is $20.00 a ticket and will start at Rose Alley Pub. SEPTEMBER 30TH.:The Champaign Aviation Museum, at the Grimes Airport in Urbana, Ohio, is holding a Remembrance Day Ceremony on September 30th at 11:00 am as a tribute to the men who fought and died for our freedom during World War II and served in the Army Air Corps. Families may submit the names of their beloved Airmen and add it to the museum’s Honor Roll at the Ceremony.

OCTOBER 1ST.:  It’s time for the 7th. annual St. Peter Luthern Church in Delphos Grilled Pork Loin Dinner with HOT German potato salad.
